Ariana Grande Releases Deluxe Version of Positions with 5 New Tracks

Midnight last night, Ariana Grande dropped Positions (Deluxe), and the five new tracks are everything that we could have asked for and expected for an expanded version of this incredible album!

Just recently, Ariana had announced the deluxe version of her album to come via twitter, and the excitement from arinators and music fans everywhere has been overwhelming. When previously speaking about the five new tracks on this version, Ariana had explained how “she always envisioned them coming out as a part of this era, this storyline, this album” and that it “felt like they needed to be heard and they needed to kind of give the album a second life down the line.” She definitely has the attention of many with the release of these new tracks!

The deluxe version, now with 19 tracks, adds five songs to the standard version, including the “34+35 Remix” that she released the music video for last week with features from Doja Cat and Megan Thee Stallion. The expanded version also includes an interlude titled “Someone Like You” and new songs “Test Drive”, “Worst Behavior”, and “Main Thing”. These tracks follow along perfectly with the theatrical and vibrant themes that were built in the original release with the unique and upbeat melodies that transport you to a different reality. The addition of these songs add even more to this iconic album!

Ariana released Positions, her sixth studio album, in October of 2020, and brought Ariana unbelievable success and chart topping achievements. With the help of a variety of producers and guest artists on the standard version like Doja Cat, The Weeknd, and Ty Dolla Sign, Ariana’s lead single and title track “Positions” debuted at the top of the Billboard Hot 100, and upon the albums release, all 14 tracks topped the Billboard Hot 100 charts. Many critics agreed that this album was a major step in the right direction for Grande, not only showing growth and exploration in her style, but also a full commitment to her true musical identity. In a Rolling Stones article written by Dave Meyers, it is discussed how though the album has plenty of the strong sexual innuendos that we have seen previously and loved from Grande, the album is able to stay grounded since “the protagonist in this story is rooted in the desire to express intimacy with someone she hopes sticks around for the long haul.” This collection of classic Ariana Grande pop and breakup songs mixed with slow R&B jams with old school roots showed major exploration and strides in Ariana’s career. She holds the attention and excitement of critics and fans everywhere with the release of these new tracks.
