It's easy to get lost in the groove of Cassie’s signature buoyant electro-pop sound on “Push Me,” but underneath the energetic production is a reflective song about breaking free from abusive relationships.

“‘Push Me’ is my reminder that the more I welcome every unique part of myself, the more complete I will feel all on my own,” she says.

Cassie Marin is an electro-pop powerhouse that is not to be ignored. She has an unmatched talent that will stun the masses and a message that demands to be heard. The Los Angeles-based vocalist, producer and multi-instrumentalist has proved herself time and again in the music business for her one-of-a-kind sound. Her boundless potential will certainly turn heads in the industry, and her undeniable stardom factor is sure to carry her all the way to the top.

“Push Me” will join recent singles like "Tanto," "Busy Body" and "Every Time I See The Ocean” on Cassie’s forthcoming 2022 album. She is striding into this new chapter of her career with complete confidence, showing an advanced level of vulnerability that has developed along with her emotional maturity. With these new songs, Cassie takes a propulsive leap with her songwriting, opening up about private battles and innermost thoughts with impressive bravery. Instead of succumbing to self-indulgence and pity, she wields her hardships as a portal to empower and transform.

"I started pursuing music as a career because of what music did and still does for me; it saves me every day," she says. "I want my music to be there for anyone and everyone who needs it the way that music was there for me."

Has visual aesthetic and cinematography always been something you have been passionate about? What kind of role do you think it plays in the music that you make?

“It has. Music can arouse all the senses and it very often brings up images in my mind. I enjoy expanding the possible ways in which an audience interacts with my music through visuals; I feel it can expand the imagination and also what I’m able to communicate to my listeners.”

I’d love to know the process for producing a song like “Push Me”. Did you have a vision of what you wanted the end product to sound like when you began the process, or did it evolve significantly while in the studio?

“I first wrote and produced ‘Push Me’ in my studio apartment in the middle of the pandemic. Usually my desk calls me when I am supposed to face a feeling I am suppressing. When I sit and search for sounds and words, piece by piece this repressed emotion comes together and reveals itself to me. Once it was cemented, I took the track to Devon Corey, who did his magic to finalize the piece.”

Your newest releases display a new level of vulnerability in your songwriting. What goes through your head when putting out a song that comes from such a personal place?

“I just hope it connects with people, really. I’m not phased by being vulnerable or ‘laying it all out there’ because it’s the only way to go about it sometimes.”

What was the most challenging part of the creative process of writing “Push Me?” What was the easiest part?

“Honestly the challenge is in the details; when it’s going through the mixing process, or deciding which takes are best, but it’s a great challenge and I wouldn’t have it any other way. The easiest part for me is singing, getting in front of the mic and letting my soul do the speaking as my mind leaves the room.”

You fuse together so many styles of music through your genre-defying sound. Would you say that you view your music as genreless?

“I think so. I’ve never really pursued things from a genre standpoint. I enjoy and listen to a variety of genres and what comes out of my music, I suppose, is a mixture of it all.”

If you had to describe your new full length album in 3 words, what would they be?

“I am here.”

Do you curate the music you create to reach a specific target audience?

“Not at all. I do, however, curate my releases so that there is a cohesiveness and harmony to them.”

How do you hope that fans walk away feeling after listening to your music?

“Heard, understood and accompanied. It’s a goal of mine to be a friend to my listeners through my music. It would be beautiful if they were able to discover something in themselves that was previously unknown, as well.”

How long have you been writing and performing?

“I have been writing and composing since I was seven, performing officially at fifteen. It was always a part of my life. If you count performing for my grandfather, I have been performing since I was 3.”

Was music something encouraged for you while growing up?

“It was and it wasn’t. One thing is to be encouraged to sing, write and play, yet it is another to be encouraged to dedicate your life to it.”

How do you feel that you have developed as an artist and person throughout these chaotic past two years within the pandemic?

“I have definitely developed, but honestly I am still processing it; I feel I am still in it in a way.”

Who is your mentor?

“I have many mentors. They are all imaginary.”

Where do you envision yourself and your career heading within the next 5 years?

“Performing all my new music on a beautiful world tour and sharing those precious moments on stage with all my fans. That in-person connection is why I do what I do.”
