5-piece alternative rock band Starcrawler has just released their newest single “Stranded” available now for streaming on all platforms. The song takes their audience into an encompassing sonic universe filled with ferocity and excitement. The listener is kept on their toes, as they experience infectious hooks and the harsh vigor of true grunge combined with vehement shoegaze styleings.
Starcrawler channels punk rock icons of the 90’s with this throwback banger. The band’s intensity and angst captures old school rock and roll in a way that is accessible to current and future generations. They are reviving classic rock in a fresh way, re-introducing edge and passion to the modern alternative music scene.
“Stranded” paints a picture of unrequited love. Guitarist Henri Cash shares the story behind the track.
“At the beginning of covid I was missing the adrenaline of having a show and driving out to play it, so I would just be driving my car around with nowhere to go and trying to write something and being so uninspired. And then one day I got hit by another car on Figueroa and Highland Park – right by Kitchen Mouse – and it turned out to be Phoebe Bridgers’ guitar player. The song came from that rock’n’roll car crash and then it became about something totally different.”
The band’s wild and punk-fueled persona is put on full display in the accompanying music video, which portrays an LA-party vibe complete with a colorful cast of characters as the band performs. Directed by Gilbert Trejo, the video is an exhilarating experience that tells the lyrical sentiment of the track in a retro aesthetic which perfectly encapsulates the group’s distinct personality and brand. “Stranded” is the perfect song for your rock out playlists, serving as a fervorous escape with the impassioned vocal stylings of de Wilde and the Cash brothers’ sweeping wall of guitars. The band has once again raised the bar for intensity and rawness within their art with the radical authenticity of their newest single. The track is taken from their forthcoming album She Said, set for a September 16th release. “Stranded” is a perfect representation of the burning enthusiasm and drive that the band can be expected to bring to the table with this newest album.
Starcrawler has always been a symbol for freedom and self expression through the fearlessness and ardor that they have in regards to their artistry. There is nothing manufactured about this LA-based punk-rock phenomenon. The group approaches songwriting without regard to the modern trends which dominate the current pop charts. They have a fierce reputation for screaming out their niche, old-school sound with striking confidence.
The band consists of dazzling frontwoman Arrow de Wilde, brothers Henri Cash and Bill Cash on guitar and pedal steel/guitar, drummer Seth Carolina, and bassist Tim Franco. Starcrawler is making a name for themselves with their enthralling live performances. Ahead of their new album dropping in September, the band has been showcasing their fierce and tight musicality, charismatic stage presence and raw energy on tour. Most recently, Starcrawler opened for Porno For Pyros in their own backyard. Starcrawler will also rejoin Jack Whiteon his tour in Minneapolis on August 13, and later open for Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds at All Points East in the UK on August 28th with The Smile, Japanese Breakfast, Robert Glasper and more (see tour dates below).
On their new album She Said, Starcrawler have fully leaned into their own epic vision of a contemporary Hollywood Babylon. They have always taken inspiration from music of icons such as LA legends X, The Go-Go’s, The Distillers, and the Rolling Stones. Each member of the band brings in a distinct taste, allowing for a mosh posh of styles influenced by classic rock and punk legends. The adrenaline-fueled collection of songs were made for blaring out of car speakers on warm summer night drives with the windows down and the volume up.
